Bodhi Style
The Unlimited Magazine
Menswear Dog gets creative when it comes to a fashion blog. The Tumblr page features a dapper 3 year-old Shiba Inu named Bodhi who models for creators, Dave Fung and Yena Kim. Bodhi is sure to be dressed in some of the hottest trends in male apparel, all while strutting the streets of NYC.
This was all created one Saturday afternoon when Fung and Kim were
“bored and decided to take a picture of Bodhi in Dave’s serious menswear. It made us laugh so we posted it on Facebook and the response was explosive and we knew we had something very strange and amazing. Our blog was created the day after and Menswear Dog was born.”
Animals wearing human clothing is not original, yet this pup is not dressed in some cutesy little outfit you can find at your local pet store. Thanks to his owners, Bodhi has got some serious style.
When asked what’s next in-terms of menswear fashion, Fung and Kim gave us the scoop.
“We think the future trends in menswear fashion will be ‘risk-taking’. Not risk-taking like wearing meggings (men leggings) but risk-taking in-terms of finding new ways to layer color, pattern and texture…Menswear will always involve classic pieces, but the future trends will reinvent how those classics translate for the bolder modern man who want to look good AND stand out.”
Want a more casual look for the workday? Combine Gant Rugger suit trousers with a Levi Denim Jacket. But be sure to go for the blasé look of the menswear dog himself. Not your style? Check out his Ryan Gosling Impersonation by creating the perfect shirt/vest/tie combination. Keep in mind its hard to pull off any look as well as Bodhi. According to Fung and Kim,
“Bodhi was born with a tremendous amount of houndswag and he's somehow able to add pizazz to any outfit he wears.”
We wanted to know how the couple gets this dog to cooperate so well. We were told that he “cooperates really well most of the time (swayed by treats and peanut butter of course), but there's always going to be those days when he doesn't want any part of it. He lets us know by giving us a swift paw to the face, so we don't shoot when he doesn't feel like it. After all, he's a model now so he's got demands.”
Since the launch on Jan.27, the page is going viral. I mean, who wouldn’t take fashion advice from a dog whose interests include,
“never washing his selvage denim, lurking around Soho for someone to notice his steez, and sniffing fine a$$ bitches.”
