Punk: Chaos to Couture
On May 6th The Met Gala will host the first ever Punk Inspired fashion event. inspire by the Punk: Chaos to Couture Costume Institute exhibition which focuses on high fashion’s appropriation of punk’s avant-garde aesthetic. A lot has changed since Punk's happy days in the early 70's, back then Anna Wintour would NEVER show her respects to this street style and music genre, or even look at the punker at Piccadilly square in London.
Inspire by the exhibition MO curated a limited edition, One-of-A-kind collection of Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Eddie Borgo, Ek Thongprasert, Givenchy, House of Waris, Moschino, Prabal Gurung, Preen, Rodarte, Thom Browne, and Vivienne Westwood .
Out of all of the designers Vivienne Westwood should be acknowledged for being the woman that inspired it all and is together with some punker responsible for this fashion.
“The enduring appeal of punk’s avant-garde ideology is that it inspires designers across the spectrum of design sensibility,” said Lauren Santo Domingo, Co-Founder of Moda Operandi. “Each designer has created pieces for this capsule collection that expresses their unique vision of punk’s rebellious spirit.”
